From natural and sleek to lusciously long, each treatment is customised to your individual style through the use of varying lengths, thickness and curls. We offer Russian Lashes from an Elegant Natural Style to a Fuller Lash Look up to a Glamourous Luxurious Look. We will advise what best suits your own style.

How long will my lashes last?

As your own natural lashes grow and fall out, so will the extensions that are attached. How well that you care for your lashes will greatly affect their lifespan. Do not pull at them! Your life style and what work you do will also make a difference on how long they last. A lady working in the food industry where there is a lot of heat, steam and oil may find that her lashes won't last as well as a lady's who works in an air conditioned office and may need refills more regularly.

How long is the treatment?

It will usually take 45 minutes to two hours depending on the treatment that is chosen. It is a meticulous procedure that requires the utmost patience and concentration so therefore it should not be rushed so that clients can leave with a perfect set of lashes.

What are refills and why do I need them?

Refills are replacing any extensions which have fallen out (due to the natural eyelash cycle) by applying more onto new lashes that have grown in, thus restoring the lash style back to its former glory!

We refer to your former notes where we have recorded the style, type, length, thickness and curl of the extensions used within your lash set and use the same for your refills.

Typically every 3-4 weeks is recommended to replace any fallen lashes and/or for new lashes that have grown in  ensuring that your beautiful lashes are regularly freshened up and look full. Refills take anywhere from 45 minutes to 90 minutes.

How are they applied?

Single natural eyelashes are isolated and a fan of 3d, 4d, 5d, and up to a 6d  extension is glued on meticulously approximately  0.5mm from the eyelid. Neither the glue nor the extension has contact with the skin. The extensions are carefully placed in a professional and artistic manner. During the application, you will be lying on a comfortable beauty bed with your eyes closed (a soft, warm duvet is optional!) It is a painless, relaxing procedure and many clients take the opportunity to catch up on some sleep while being beautified.

Is the glue safe?

Yes. We take great care to ensure that the adhesive does not come in contact with the skin or eyes. The glue used at Shirley’s is a high quality, expert strength, medical grade one. It is fast drying and when applied properly it does not give a heavy, clumped look.

Can the eyelash extensions be removed?

We do not recommend removing your own eyelash extensions as attempting to remove the extensions yourself will result in natural lash loss. At any time for any reason, they can be professionally removed for a fee by a therapist at Shirley’s resulting in no damage to your natural lashes.

Do eyelash extensions make my own lashes fall out?

No, definitely not! This is a myth. It is important to have your lash extensions applied by a qualified technician who uses top quality products. Natural lashes have a cycle and are constantly being replaced, just like your hair. If you pull so hard on an extension and pull out your own natural lash there will be no new lash ready to grow to take its place and you will have to wait 6-8 weeks for that lash to grow. Therefore, once you don't pull at your gorgeous lash extensions, no lash damage will occur.

Can I apply mascara to my eyelashes?

You won't have to. It is like waking up with makeup and best of all it will make your lashes look like you're wearing mascara 24/7 without the clumping, streaking and smudging look that you get with it.

No more running and streaking mascara which is fantastic for brides on their special day. If desired you can wear a non-waterproof or semi-permanent mascara on the lower lashes.

I had eyelash extensions applied somewhere else and I am unhappy with them.  Can they be fixed at Shirley’s?

At Shirley’s we prefer not to mix our work with other people's work so it is advised that you either allow your extensions to naturally come off or contact us to discuss the options of having the extensions removed before your appointment to have a new set applied. We always recommend a consultation to advise what’s best for you.

Do I need to book an appointment?

Yes, We would recommend booking an appointment to ensure we have reserved the correct amount of time for your eyelash appointment.
As always we will do our upmost to fit all of our clients but please be aware appointments fill up extremely fast.

What should I do before my eyelash extension appointment?

If you have extremely fair eyelashes, it is recommended to have them tinted at least 24hours before your eyelash extension appointment. Wash your eye area with a mild cleanser removing all traces of makeup and mascara. Avoid using oily eye-makeup remover (which contains glycol) as this prevents the extensions from adhering properly to the natural lashes. Do not perm or curl your eyelashes before your eyelash extension appointment. If you wear contact lenses please bring your contact lens case as your lenses will need to be removed.

How do I look after my eyelash extensions?

  • For the first 12 hours avoid getting the lashes wet to allow the glue to completely dry.

  • Do not use a steam room or sauna for the first 48 hours to allow glue to cure.

  • Be gentle and respect your new lashes. Avoid rubbing your eyes and do not pick and play with your lashes as this will pull out your own natural lashes.

  • When drying your face, do not rub your eye area! Instead, blot your face and apply gentle pressure to your closed eyes, then allow the extensions to dry naturally. Don't try to dry them with a hairdryer!

  • Do not curl the extensions using eyelash curlers.

  • Avoid wearing mascara as this will lessen the life of your extensions.

  • Do not use eye make-up remover that contains any type of oil as this can loosen the bond of the glue, causing extensions to prematurely fall off.

  • Do keep the eye area clean. This is very important. Some ladies love their lashes so much they don't even want to get them wet at all. Avoiding proper hygiene can result in an eye infection whether wearing eyelash extensions or not.

  • Try and sleep on your back to avoid crushing your extensions in the pillow.

The golden rule for wearing eyelash extensions is the less you touch them the longer they will last. However, it is important to keep the eyelashes and eye area clean at all times.
